The IGY6; Skydive ‒ Round Two!

On July 20, 2024, The IGY6; Foundation hosted our second Skydive Event, creating an unforgettable experience for 10 incredible heroes from the Disabled and Homeless Veterans Group at the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Healthcare Facility Homeless Program in Evanston, Illinois.
Our mission was simple: give these veterans an opportunity to step outside their comfort zones, experience the thrill of skydiving, and create memories that would last a lifetime. With the support of our incredible partners, we were able to make that vision a reality at Skydive Chicago.
Ten Heroes. One Unforgettable Experience.
For many people, skydiving is a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. For our 10 heroes, it was an opportunity to embrace something new, face a challenge, and experience the incredible rush of freefalling from the sky.
The day was about more than the adrenaline of jumping out of an airplane. It was about creating an opportunity for these veterans to feel excitement, build confidence, and share an extraordinary experience with others who understand the sacrifices and challenges that come with serving our country.
At The IGY6; Foundation, we believe every veteran deserves opportunities to experience joy, adventure, connection, and a renewed sense of possibility. Our goal is to remind our heroes that their stories are not defined by the hardships they have faced, but also by the opportunities, experiences, and memories still ahead of them.
Seeing this event come together reinforced why we do what we do. Sometimes, a new experience can offer a fresh perspective and remind someone that there is still so much life to explore.
A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Partners
An event like this would not have been possible without the generosity of organizations that believe in supporting our veterans and our mission.
A special thank-you to Skydive Chicago for generously donating the use of their facilities and helping make this incredible experience possible. Your support allowed us to bring 10 deserving veterans together for an adventure they will never forget.
We also want to extend our sincere appreciation to the American Legion Post 703 in Fox Lake, Illinois, for generously donating the catering for our event. Your kindness helped make the day even more special and ensured our heroes were welcomed and cared for throughout the experience.
When organizations and communities come together to support those who have served our country, incredible things happen. Your generosity is a powerful reminder that our veterans are not forgotten and that there are people willing to stand beside them.
Our Mission Goes Beyond the Jump
At The IGY6; Foundation, we are committed to helping veterans and first responders explore the positive impacts of outdoor activities, build meaningful connections, and find purpose through new experiences.
This second Skydive Event was another step in that mission. By creating opportunities for veterans experiencing homelessness and disability to participate in exciting activities, we hope to help open doors to connection, confidence, and positive memories.
We are incredibly grateful to the 10 heroes who joined us, the team at Skydive Chicago, American Legion Post 703, and everyone who helped make this event a success.
Help Us Create More Life-Changing Experiences
There are still veterans and first responders who need opportunities to reconnect with others, discover new passions, and experience the joy of doing something extraordinary. With your support, The IGY6; Foundation can continue creating these moments and reaching more heroes who deserve to know their community stands behind them.
You can help by partnering with us, donating, or sharing our mission with others. Every act of support helps us create more opportunities for veterans and first responders to experience adventure, connection, and renewed purpose.
Together, we can remind our heroes that no matter what challenges they face, they are not alone. Their service matters, their lives matter, and their next great chapter may be just around the corner.
